Finance committee update on budget
Heaney reports that the finance committee report will be pushed back another month because there is additional work to do, some involving research on stipends, which is 10 percent of the total budget. He says the committee is 95 percent done. He says the executive committee will have a budget in hand the Friday (Oct. 23) prior to the next meeting (Oct. 27).
Healthy Locals recommendation for new meeting schedule
Turbull reports that the committee’s goal is to have fewer meetings and to make meetings more of an event and more topic-oriented with hopes of drawing more people, while also conducting the business of the local at these meetings.
The day-to-day business of the local would be handled by the Executive Committee in its monthly meetings with other issues continued to be put forth before the general membership.
Quarterly meetings were discussed. Avoiding July and August were mentioned to avoid vacations. Jan/March/June/Nov and Feb/June/Sept/Nov are mentioned as possible formats. The new meeting schedule would be targeted for a 2010 start.
