President Pat Gormley called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m, Feb. 4, 2010 at One News Plaza, fifth-floor cafeteria.
Agenda item No. 1: Discussion of TNG/Buffalo News meeting in Washington last Friday/Question & Answer with Marian Needham, TNG Representative.
Needham recapped the meeting in Washington, where The News’ Dan Farberman and Warren Colville were present; the only tangible feedback she received from them was that The News was likely to target district manager positions as cost-cutting measure.
Agenda item No. 2: Vote on Classified Advertising Employment Incentive Agreement.
Tammy Turnbull summed up negotiations with The News in developing the agreement, which was entered into as a result of The News’ desire to move the work of transient (non-contract) employment advertising in the Classified Advertising Department from the Inside Division to the Employment Advertising Team of the Account Division. This agreement is limited exclusively to transient employment advertising. Lineage bases were introduced for inside representatives; the lineages expire on Dec. 31, 2012.
Motion/Second/Carried Tan/Raeke to recommend the Classified Advertisement Employment Incentive Agreement be approved by the local.
Agenda item No. 3: Discussion of TNG National Meeting events in May and July 2010 and the local’s level of participation.
Turnbull discussed the schedule and the group agreed that the upcoming regional meeting in Cleveland would be important to attend since there will be so many regional representatives present.
The first local meeting of the year will be held Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 5:30 at the CWA District 1 Office, 821 Elk St., Buffalo.
