Thanks to everyone who showed up and pitched in April 26 for the Buffalo Newspaper Guild’s annual cleanup event.
You made a small part of Buffalo a better, cleaner place.
Volunteers from the Guild, joined by others, picked up litter around the small parks by the Ohio Street Boat Launch as part of the Spring Shoreline Cleanup coordinated by Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper.
Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting our major waterways. The cleanup involves more than 2,000 volunteers at 40 sites.
The Guild conducts its annual effort with Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper in memory of our late friend, reporter and Guild leader John “Jay” Bonfatti, who died in 2008.

Once again, the weather was awful. But once again, the bad weather failed to stop Guild members from participating and having a million laughs while doing it.
“It’s a fun event and a nice way to wave the Guild flag in a positive way in our community, and in memory of our good buddy, JayBo,” said reporter Dan Herbeck, who helped organize the event.
To those who didn’t make it, we’d still love to see you next year.
