Please join in the festivities as the Buffalo Newspaper Guild once again marches in the annual AFL-CIO Labor Day Parade and Picnic on Monday, Sept. 1. The fun, free event welcomes all Guild members, spouses, kids and well-behaved pets.

Since this is a major bargaining year for us, we’re hoping for high turnout on Monday. Even if you haven’t been to the Labor Day Parade in recent years, we hope you’ll make time for this fun event this year.

The parade will head down Abbott Road in South Buffalo to Cazenovia Park, where free hotdogs, hamburgers, snacks and drinks will be provided to all.

As a show of solidarity, we’re asking every participant to wear a black collared shirt. If you don’t have a black collared shirt, any plain black (or white) shirt will do. Also, please wear your black-and-tan Guild baseball cap if you have one.

Sign-up sheets will be on the Guild bulletin boards in all departments this week, and Guild representatives may be coming by to personally invite you to the event. We look forward to seeing you there!

When: We line up between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 1. Parade begins at noon.

Where: Guild members will gather at the corner of Abbott Road and Melrose Street. Park at either end of the parade route. Consider coordinating with another Guild member to save a walk back to your vehicle.

Sticker Day on Thursday

With bargaining ramping up again in September, we’re asking all Guild members to show their solidarity and support for the Guild bargaining team by wearing stickers that tell management that Guild members stick together. Please wear your sticker with pride!
