Guild, News team up to promote Labor Day subscription deal

On Monday, members of the Buffalo Newspaper Guild will march in the annual Labor Day Parade. As part of a series of collaborative efforts aimed at boosting subscriptions, we’ll be passing out fliers to paradegoers promoting “the work of union journalists” with a special Labor Day introductory subscription offer for The News — six months of digital access for $6.

As part of the effort, we’d also like Guild members to help promote the offer by sending out tweets and Facebook posts from their social media accounts teasing the offer and linking to BuffaloNews.com/labor— where your followers can sign up for the deal.

On Friday and/or through the holiday weekend, please tweet out a link to the offer and post to your other social media accounts. Your own words and a personal message will be most effective, but if you’re struggling to come up with something, you can use the below example for guidance. You can simply retweet or share the Guild account or one of your colleagues, but messages from each of you carry more weight than a simple RT.

Finally, since we are distributing 500 fliers featuring this subscription promo at the Labor Day Parade this year, we are asking all Guild members to make a special effort to join us in this year’s parade at 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Please contact Sandy Tan or Colin Dabkowski if you have any questions or are planning to attend the parade, and thanks for your help in supporting this effort!
