Our comments on Lee Enterprises’ plan to shift printing of @thebuffalonews to Cleveland Moments after we took this photo Wednesday, as we said goodbye to 3 journalists voluntarily resigning in lieu of layoffs, Lee Enterprises decided it was a good time to provide us notice that it is outsourcing our editorial design desk, which will affect another 5 Guild members. The Guild says goodbye and happy retirement this week to three Buffalo News reporters and Guild members who volunteered for buyouts after cuts were imposed by our owner, Lee Enterprises. Guild members posted signs and wore red in solidarity today as Lee Enterprises executives Jason Adrians and Paige Mudd came to visit Lee Enterprises news executives haven't met even once with the staff of The Buffalo News since Lee purchased Buffalo's newspaper 3 years ago. We asked Jason Adrians, vice president of local news, and Paige Mudd, local news director for Lee’s East Region, to make time this week when they are in town. They said they will meet with us in 3 or 4 months. As we wish everyone a prosperous 2023, we mourn with those who lost loved ones in the blizzard. We believe this is another example of why having locally produced Guild journalism matters. More fun from our holiday party. The Lonnie Hudkins Memorial Singers rehearse before hitting the stage at Thursday’s holiday party. The Buffalo Newspaper Guild, which just recently rallied with Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh strikers, also stands in solidarity with the journalists of the @fortworthnewsguild. You have friends far beyond Texas! Stay strong. Sending love from your @thenewsguild brothers and sisters in Buffalo! #OurNewsOurHome Guild President Sandy Tan and Secretary-Elect Mike McAndrew rallied with striking members of the Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh (@pghguild) in Mellon Square in downtown Pittsburgh on Monday. We stand with our union siblings in the Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh (@pghguild). President Sandy Tan and Secretary-elect Mike McAndrew are heading to Pittsburgh Monday to support strike efforts, attend a rally and walk the picket line on Monday's bargaining day with the company. #UnionStrong Captured by our prez on her way out of the building Friday night. Larkinville, here we come!
