Talking personal finance at the next membership meeting

The next general membership meeting at 5 p.m. May 16 will feature a guest speaker who manages multimillion-dollar investments but started out as a business reporter at The Buffalo News.

Richard Schroeder, a certified financial planner with Schroeder, Braxton & Vogt Inc., will give a 45-minute talk about what it takes to be financially smart, regardless of your circumstances.

As he puts it, getting one’s finances in order may seem as appealing as a trip to the dentist, but don’t you feel better after the Novocaine has worn off? He will try to make it easy for you, with a quick review of the basics, including: how to protect your family and yourself from the financial effects of disastrous events; improving your retirement prospects; eliminating debt; and putting your whole plan on automatic.
