Social event raises money for Hurricane Sandy

Guild member and Buffalo News reporter Steve Watson, right, hands over a check for $436 raised from Guild members and other News employees for the American Red Cross’ Hurricane Sandy relief efforts to Red Cross Development Associate Emily Shafer on Nov. 28 at Red Cross headquarters in Buffalo. Dozens of Guild members came out last Thursday for some camaraderie and a free hot drink from the visiting Rolling Joe’s Café truck.
Many News employees also generously contributed to the American Red Cross at a separate fund raising table. The Guild gratefully received everything from spare change to a $100 check and ultimately raised $436 toward Hurricane Sandy storm relief efforts.
A big thanks to all those who came out!
