Guild shirts still available – some discounted
For those who missed the opportunity to buy a Buffalo Newspaper Guild polo shirt, we will be placing a second round of orders next week. Deadline for new orders is this Wednesday, Sept. 30. The shirts come in both unisex “classic” polo and “women’s” styles in navy, white and black. (more…)

Guild fares well in membership survey
Four out of five Guild members think the union does a good job, according to a recent survey of members.
The Guild’s high approval marks contrast with the small number of union members – about 13 percent – who attended more than one local meeting the past year.
The results suggest that, while the Guild is viewed as effective, it needs to do a better job of involving members in the day-to-day operation of their union. Of the Guild’s 245 members, 145 took part in the survey by the union’s Healthy Locals Committee. The survey was conducted in June. (more…)

United Way Day of Caring

Guild members took time to give back to the community on Aug. 19, 2009 as part of the United Way Day of Caring. Geoff Nason, Sandy Tan, Steve Watson, Lou Michel, Trevor Drayton (non-guild) and Colin Dabkowski grab onto the long roller used to reach the high spots on a cottage they repainted at Cradle Beach Camp. -
Special edition Guild shirts!

The Guild is offering a special edition, 75th Anniversary Buffalo Newspaper Guild polo shirt featuring the new, stylized Guild logo by member artist Adam Zyglis commemorating the Guild’s founding in 1934.
Each limited-edition polo shirt is $24. Part of the proceeds from each sale will go to support the 75th Anniversary celebration and help offset ticket costs for members. With the union set to renegotiate health care in 2010 and the full contract in 2011, this shirt is a great way to show Guild solidarity and pride. (more…)
